Colorful Artist

Following these five simple rules any one can create a great logo design. There is no strict set of rules but these are the general principles that all design artists should rely on.

1. The most important design rule that any one has ever learned is the KISS rule. Which demands the designer to Keep It Simple Silly. The simplicity doesn't mean a quick design with no smart ideas in it. Simplicity means a design that is easy to understand and effectively serves the purpose.

2. A logo design is useless if it is not unique. Try to avoide cliches and stereotypes and go beyond your imagination to come up with a unique idea.

3. Take full advantage of colors. We the human race is attracted to colors like moth to flies, colors have huge impact on how we see things and how we act and behave. But don't go overboard with colors, find the perfect balance that could spark a favorable interest or emotion among the viewers.

4. Don't cheat yourself by borrowing ideas from different logos and combining them into your new logo design. This only creates an awful mess that no one likes because no matter what you do popular brands have very strong recognition you can't hide the resemblance.

5. Don't forget the message. The purpose of the logo design is to tell people about a business, product, services or a brand. It needs to exactly describe what that business or brand is about and it should also attempt to generate a positive image.

The KISS Rule of Logo Design Explained

Paris at night

KISS is an abbreviation for Keep it Simple Stupid. This is in fact a rule applied to many design industries including graphic design. The purpose of this design rule is to keep the design focused to achieve the goals rather than using it to create complexity that is ambiguous but pretty.

In terms of logo design when we talk about creating a simple logo design it does not mean that a simple logo design has to be an easy one. In fact keeping a design simple takes a lot more work and creativity than creating a complex one. The idea gets the most importance of all the elements in such a design practise.

The purpose of getting a business logo is usually to present a business or an organization in a positive light. A logo design tells the purpose of the business, what they are offering and why they are so good at it. A simple logo design focuses on highlighting these qualities and making the logo design more easy to understand.

Quality or Time What is more important?

In the life of a business there might come a time where you need to hire some artists to create your business’ marketing material such as a brochure or a logo design. You may call in a logo design compa-ny and ask them to create these things quickly. For a little extra money your graphic designer might come up with something quickly. But if you understand the creative process you might realize that putting a time barrier on a creative process may ruin its quality. Compromise on quality of a logo design may turn into a disaster for your marketing strategy.

But then the question is how much time is enough for a quality service?

There is no way anyone can answer this question. It greatly depends on the capabilities of your design company. It depends on factors such as the skills of professionals, information available to them and your previous work experience with them. If you have previously worked with them then they might already have an idea of your business needs.

What is a Good Quality Logo Design?

The good quality logo design is the one that portrays your business immaculately and more articulately with aesthetic beauty and artistic elegance. A good logo would symbolize your business and its values. A better logo design would help you gain customer loyalty.
A professional logo design would fit into any situation such as your office, your marketing and promo-tional material, stationary and even your website.

A bad quality logo design is exactly the opposite of a quality logo. It would not provide enough information about your business. It might look ugly or may contain elements that would scare away your potential or existing customers.

You need to get a logo which has the perfect combination of concept, style and usefulness. It should exactly portray the image of your business and it should help your customer to identify your business easily.
